Here comes the bride on her 90th birthday, joined in happy matrimony to her never-been-married 80 year-old groom.
Marjorie Cuthbert, who turned 90 Thursday, popped the question to Howard McKay after 40 years of blissful togetherness.
"We've lived together for 40 years and we just decided it was time," said Cuthbert, who was born in Fraser Lake. "We're having the wedding in our backyard with our little dog. She's going to be best dog."
The lucky dog is Maggie, an eight-year-old American Eskimo.
About 15 friends and family witnessed the nuptials that Cuthbert said is just one of those things.
"It just happened to come up and I said 'why don't we get married?' and he went along with me," said Cuthbert, who has two daughters, Darryl and Karen, from a previous marriage.
Cuthbert and McKay met when she was a desk clerk at the National Hotel in Prince George. McKay is from Nova Scotia and never had any children.
The wedding ceremony was followed by a lovely meal and further celebrations, including Marjorie's birthday, will take place on Saturday when more people can attend.
