Flanked by 500 shoes, police, politicians and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia officials urged drivers to be less lead-footed when they take to the roads this long weekend.
Representing a fraction of the 3,400 people injured and killed on northern B.C. roads each year, the shoes were layed out in front of the Civic Centre on Friday morning to give a visual representation of the carnage caused by careless driving in the region.
