A fire Sunday morning destroyed a back-yard garage at a house in the 2100 block of Spruce Street.
By the time crews from three Prince George Fire Rescue called to the scene could respond to the call, at about 10:30 a.m., the 20-foot X 20-foot wooden structure was a mass of flames. The fire ignited an adjacent tree and was beginning to spread to a neighbour’s fence and produced heavy black smoke visible throughout the city.
According to assistant chief John Law, firefighters were able to hook on to a nearby hydrants and used a fire engine water monitor to pressure hoses and douse the flames. Damage was estimated at $10,000. There were no injuries.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire the investigation has been turned over to Prince George RCMP.
