A suspicious fire gutted a duplex in the 2200 block of Victoria Street Sunday morning.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., Prince George fire fighters were called to the home and found heavy smoke coming from inside half the duplex, a statement issued by Asst. Fire Chief Greg Wilkins said.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the fire.

Fire fighters were able to limit the fire to the side of the duplex where the fire started, but damages are estimated at $80,000.

Fire and RCMP investigators were still on scene on Sunday afternoon, working to determine the cause of the fire, which appeared suspicious.
