Police in the region are involved in a pair of unrelated suspicious death investigations.

In one case, a Dawson Creek matter, two men have been charged with second degree murder. In the other case, Smithers police arrested but have not yet charged a man in the death of a woman on the streets of the neighbouring village of Telkwa.

According to North District RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, the woman was found Friday morning "laying in a residential street in Telkwa" and that attending officers "are treating the death as being criminal in nature."

The man of interest they located nearby has been held without immediate charge but the investigation is active. The man and victim were known to each other.

In Dawson Creek, Ryan Beaulieu, 26 and brother Clayton Beaulieu, 22, have been formally charged in the death of Wesley Lulu-Gladue.

Police were first brought into the case on the evening of Nov. 6 when reports of a serious assault led them to an apartment building. Upon additional investigation over the next few hours, police made what Moskuluk called "the horrific discovery of a body of a deceased male, concealed inside a large cardboard box which had been placed in a nearby steel refuse receptacle."

An autopsy revealed Lulu-Gladue died of multiple stab wounds and beating injuries.

The victim had not lived in Dawson Creek for more than a few months. RCMP Victims Services is now providing support to his grieving family.

"Police believe this is not gang related and that there is no further risk to the community," Moskaluk said.
