Suspicious death in Quesnel

The sudden death of a 57-year-old Quesnel woman has resulted in a major investigation by three RCMP units and the B.C. Coroner's Service. The body of Nancy Moerike was discovered in her residence by neighbours in the late afternoon of Nov. 30.

The body of Nancy Moerike was discovered in her residence by neighbours in the late afternoon of Nov. 30.

Aspects of her death have been deemed suspicious and are currently under investigation by the RCMP's major crime unit, general investigation, and forensic identification section and the B.C. Coroner's Service, said Const. Krista Vrolyk, media relations officer.

The cause of death is still unknown and is expected to remain so until an autopsy Friday will be conducted to reveal whether the cause is by natural or criminal means, Vrolyk said.

Police are asking friends and associates of the woman who have any information regarding her death to contact Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211.
