B.C.'s Director of Civil Forfeiture has relinquished a portion of the cash RCMP seized from a Kelowna man during a pullover near Red Rock

Lawyers for Kelly Ross Black and the B.C. Civil Forfeiture Director have signed a consent order in which partial relief adding up to $7,330.50 has been granted in favour of Black.

In all, $16,290 was seized when, on  April 18, 2021, Williams Lake RCMP pulled over a 2011 Mercedes Benz ML on Highway 97 near Red Rock for speeding.

Police identified Black, who was a passenger in the car and has a drug-related criminal record according to the claim filed by the CFO in September 2021, and during a pat down found $2,290 in cash on him held together by an elastic band.

A further search uncovered $14,000 concealed in the engine compartment, according to the claim.
