Prince George RCMP are crediting a local resident for helping to track down a suspect following a theft from a downtown business on Tuesday morning.

The resident called RCMP after seeing a man with a large, unopened box strapped to his bike.

Police said it turned out to be containing a large vehicle tent that had been reported missing from a business in the 1100 block of Victoria Street about 90 minutes before.

Tyler Lee Anderson, 23, has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break in instruments and breach of probation and has been remanded in custody.

"This is a great example of an alert member of the public that just didn't feel right about what they saw" said Cpl. Kent MacNeill, in charge of the Prince George RCMP's downtown enforcement unit. "If that person ignored that feeling, this investigation may have gone unsolved."
