Prince George RCMP are asking for the public's help in tracking down the person responsible for the extensive injuries a man appeared to have suffered in an assault.

Police had received a report on Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m. of a possible assault that may have occurred earlier in the day after, at about 1 p.m., the man showed up at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia.

"Due to medical treatment, the victim is not able to speak to police at this time," Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "Investigators are requesting the public's help to identify the location of the assault and the person or persons responsible."

Police believe the assault occurred downtown and involved a blunt object.
