A local man is in custody and faces several charges stemming from an alleged stabbing incident three days before Christmas.

Brendan Robert Richard, 20, was arrested Dec. 22 after Prince George RCMP received a report from a Sparrow Road home in the Hart at about 10:15 p.m.

They were told the suspect had fled and while en route to the scene, saw the suspect vehicle turning onto Otway Road. Minutes later, the driver lost control and slid into a snowbank where he was arrested.

A knife and a pellet pistol were located in the vehicle, and it was determined Richard was prohibited from driving and the vehicle was uninsured, RCMP said.

Richard, who remains in custody, was charged with one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, using an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence, dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, driving while prohibited and driving while driver's licence is supended.

Richard was also charged with two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and eight counts of breach of probation.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was transported to hospital for treatment of what police believed were non-life threatening injuries. The suspect and the victim are known to each other, RCMP said.
