Seniors peer support
The Prince George Council of Seniors offers one-on-one peer support for people 55 years old and older.
Clients are paired with a peer support volunteer 60 to 90 minutes a week, for a limited number of weeks.
The volunteers provide compasionate, non-judgemental support and encouragement to help the clients get in touch with their feelings. By talking to a supportive listener, the clients often gain a clearer understanding of their particular difficulties and are able to make decisions to solve their own problems.
Volunteers receive 20 hours of training in providing support and protecting client confidentiallity.
To refer yourself, a family member, friend, client or patient to this free service, call 250-564-5888, ext. 12.
