Former party leader, Mike Summers has resigned from the B.C. Refederation Party.

Citing monetary difficulties and low membership, as well as a perceived imminent election, he made this decision Friday.

"There is the likelihood of an election this fall, and the need to remove the B.C. Liberals from governance is imperative," Summers, who lives in Vanderhoof, said in a statement. "With that said, I am giving my support to the B.C. NDP.

"I still support direct democracy, but BC families and the provinces infrastructure cannot endure one more BC Liberal government."

Summers ran under the B.C. Refederation Party banner in Nechako Lakes in the last provincial election.
