The RCMP’s Summer Speed Campaign saw 489 speeding tickets issued over the last 60 days.
One of the most popular complaints the local Municipal Traffic Services Section gets is about speeding vehicles so patrols were in full force this summer focusing on high-risk collision locations where speed causes serious injury.
Of the 489 drivers that were caught speeding 20 were going more than 40 kilometres over the posted speed limit, which resulted in the offender’s vehicle being seized for seven days and a speeding ticket being issued in the amount of at least $368.
Patrols will continue in the community as police warn drivers to slow down and keep roads safe.
