Better for people to know you for something than nothing, said Malcolm in the Middle star turned drummer Frankie Muniz.
Muniz, known for the role as Malcolm, is used to people remembering him best for the show. He and Kingsfoil, the band he's with now, stopped by the 94X radio station BBQ fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters held Friday over lunch.
Muniz and the Kingsfoil band members, Jordan Davis and Tim Warren, schmoozed with guests while fourth band member Tristan Martin was back at the hotel sick.
Kingsfoil played the UNBC Backyard BBQ Friday night and the band wanted to help out the community while they were here.
"We're so excited to be here to help out," said Muniz, who always wanted to be a rock star. "Anytime you can help raise money just by us being the band is pretty cool."
"We've got the same organization in the States so we we're glad to support them here in Canada," said fellow band mate, Davis. "This is our first time in Canada and we're having a great time."
Not only is this a fundraiser but also a chance to raise awareness for Big Brothers.
"Big Brother Big Sisters is so grateful for the fundraiser," said Tim Bennett, manager of the local branch of Big Brother Big Sisters. "September is Big Brothers Big Sisters awareness month so it's a good opportunity to get the word out there that we still need 30 mentors to ensure that children who need a mentor get a mentor. There's always a child out there with similar interests as you and they're just waiting for someone to hang out and be a friend."
The barbecue raised about $300 for the cause and about 90 people attended.
