The Prince George RCMP are investigating after a stranger offered a child a ride home on Thursday.
The child, a girl walking home from elementary school, was near Cathedral Drive and Chartwell Avenue in the Westgate area when a man rolled down the window of the a car and made the offer, police said. The girl ran to a nearby home of a friend while the man drove away. A parent called RCMP at about 3:20 p.m.
The car is described as a small silver four-door with a dent near the front driver's side.
The driver was described as about 20 years old with a stubbly beard, blue eyes and wearing a white ball cap, an orange shirt and jeans.
Police would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle and are reminding public that it is not appropriate to offer children a ride home.
"If you are concerned for the safety of a child, call the police," Cpl. Craig Douglass said.
