Prince George RCMP Cst. Paul Starr and the detachment's B Watch were named the officer and general duty watch of the year by Crime Stoppers on Thursday.

Starr, a member of A Watch "has demonstrated strong support for the Crime Stopper program as evident through his investigations," the organization said in a statement.

When following up on information received by Crime Stoppers, Starr enlisted the help of the detachment's crime reduction team, which led to the execution of a search warrant and arrest of a man for trafficking in a controlled substance.

"His attention to detail and willingness to go the extra distance is the reason for this positive outcome," Crime Stoppers said.

B watch, led by Staff Sergeant Marc Pelletier, produced the most arrests from Crime Stoppers tips than any of the detachment's four watches in 2013.

"Although only one watch can receive the award, the continual support shown for the Crime Stoppers program by all watches over the last year, is evident and appreciated," Crime Stoppers said.

An awards ceremony was held Thursday as part of Crime Stoppers month.
