A sport utility vehicle was stolen from a Prince George home, used in a break and enter and then destroyed in a fire, Prince George RCMP said Monday.

A red Ford Explorer that went missing from a 2100-block Sixth Avenue home over Sunday night was caught on security camera during a break-in at Parkhill Centre on North Nechako Road at about 4:30 a.m. Monday, police said.

Suspects fled the scene in the SUV, possibly empty handed, and a half hour later, a vehicle matching the description was found on fire in the 700 block of Alward Street. Prince George Fire Rescue and RCMP were called to the scene.

Anyone with information on who may have committed the acts is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
