Comments from northern B.C. residents have been lacking so far during the provincial government's liquor policy review process but there is still time for input, John Yap, the MLA in charge of the process, said this week.
"There are probably unique regional perspectives on the issue and we'd like to hear from people in the north," Yap said.
Yap outlined two ways to register ideas beginning with a Twitter town hall this Sunday, 6 p.m. start, via #bcliquor.
Perhaps the most common route is to visit www.gov.bc.ca and click on liquor policy review, which has drawn more than 20,000 hits so far.
The website features written submissions provided by stakeholders, video blogs from Yap and an archival look at B.C.'s liquor history, as well as answers to commonly held questions around the production, sale and consumption of beer, wine and spirits.
It has been 12 years since the last review was conducted.
"It's now 2013 and we want to get a read on attitudes of British Columbians towards liquor," Yap said.
The deadline is Oct. 31 with a final report to be presented to Attorney General and Minister of Justice Suzanne Anton by Nov. 25.
