The first ever Stay-at-Home-Gala was a night to remember as it raised $52,354.41 for the Prince George Community Foundation.

The total is more than twice the goal of $25,000, set in recognition of the PGCF's 25th anniversary.

Catherine Hansen and Kyle Sampson kept the evening moving as dynamic hosts. The evening was made even more special with Scotiabank announcing a $20,000 donation.

Guests included Will Stroet of Will's Jams, the Juno-nominated CBC kids performer, a cocktail lesson from Northern Lights Estate Winery, a musical performance by Keith David and Jeni Rae and appearances by Cougar's alum Brett Connolly, Eric Brewer and Dan Hamhuis to name a few.

More than 20 communities participated in this cross-country virtual gala event on Saturday. The national line-up included the likes of Andre Picard - health writer and columnist with the Globe and Mail, dynamic musical group Once a Tree, music sensation Barney Bentall and so much more.

Funds raised will go to the PGCF's emergency response fund to help registered charities in the city deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Thank you to everyone who participated in the virtual gala and supported the Community Foundation in our response efforts," said PGCF president Alain LeFebvre.

Donations are still being accepted through www.pgcf.ca or by contacting Mindy at [email protected].
