Statistics Canada is looking for 82 people to help gather information in the Fraser-Fort George Regional District for this year's census.
It's an ideal job for students, recently-retired persons, stay-at-home parents and those wanting to supplement their income.
Be prepared: You'll be working some long days, and on evenings, weekends and holidays, but your efforts will be appreciated.
"We've always had some difficulties [attracting census takers] in the Interior and Northern British Columbia," said Statcan regional assistant director Kwong Wong.
That's especially so for finding people who can head out to the various First Nations communities in the region, where census enumeration will be completed in person. And all on-reserve households will get the long form.
"This is more the reason for us to recruit and hire people living on reserve," Wong said.
He characterized the job as something of a higher calling, saying some valuable and important information will be gathered.
"This will provide communities with the information they need to make decisions on services such as schools, roads, health care, policing and social services as well," Wong said.
Non-reserve households will receive their questionnaires in early May. They can fill out the forms and mail them back or respond online.
For those who do not, census takers will follow up with personal interviews via telephone or in person starting in late May.
