Work began on just eight single-family homes in October, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, half the number of starts during the same month last year.
But at 136, the year-to-date number remains above the 104 starts seem by the same point last year.
Similarly, there were no starts on units of multiple family housing in October, compared to seven for the same month last year.
But at 73, the year-to-date total on that front remains well above the 14 units seen by the same point last year.
