Work began on eight new single-family homes in Prince George and area in May, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation numbers issued Monday.
That's down from 13 for the same month last year, but the year-to-date total now stands at 60, compared to 38 by the same point in 2014.
There were also starts on three units of multiple housing last month, compared to one during May 2014, raising the year-to-date total to 24, well up from just three by the same point last year.
