Staring down the barrel of a gun

It was odd enough that someone would be banging on the door at 1 a.m., but shock really set in when a Maple Street resident opened up to see two men with a gun.

The incident happened in the 1700 block of Maple Street Friday morning, not far from the north slope of Connaught Hill.

When contacted by The Citizen, the victim declined to comment, however Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass said the victim and assailants did not appear to be connected.

"It shook him up," said Douglass. "When the resident answered the door, one of the men pointed a handgun at the 28-year-old male. The man shut the door and retreated to the bedroom where he called police."

General duty officers "were in the area within two minutes of the report," said Douglass.

No one was observed on foot in the area, and a police service dog and handler came up with no track to follow. Investigators believe the two suspects likely fled in a vehicle.

The first male is described as a thin Caucasian with darker skin tone, approximately fivefeet, seven inches to five feet, nine inches tall, wearing a red hoodie-type sweater and a blue bandana over his face.

The other attacker could only be described as a male wearing dark clothing.

"This is actually a good set of descriptions to go on, considering the circumstances," Douglass said. "When you have a gun pointed at your, people tend to pay more focus to the gun. Plus you're half awake, if you're getting your door banged on when you're in bed late at night. He [the victim] did well."

The investigation is continuing.
