Prince George Public Library staff are expressing their gratitude after a local business stepped in to solve a problem.
On the afternoon of April 3 a projector was stolen from the Bob Harkins branch's Keith Gordon room.
The loss of the projector would have meant the cancellation of a film showing scheduled for the following afternoon's Pro-D day as well as the video component of the branch's Saturday afternoon So You Want to be an Astronaut? event.
In speaking with a fellow dog owner at a local park, teen librarian Amy Dawley unknowingly expressed her concern to someone who could help.
Matt Sheehy, the interim general manager of Spruce Credit Union, took the bad news back to work and produced a cheque for more than $1,700 to cover the costs of replacing the projector so it could be ordered and expedited to Prince George so programming could proceed as scheduled.
"This community really comes together when institutions like the library and literacy need help," acting chief librarian Janet Marren said, in a press release. "It's really amazing."
