Spring break programs offering fun, fitness

Parents will be looking for some entertaining and perhaps some uniquely different spring break activities for their kids to experience during the March break over the next two weeks.

Parents will be looking for some entertaining and perhaps some uniquely different spring break activities for their kids to experience during the March break over the next two weeks.

In Prince George, children and youth will have a variety of opportunities to choose from that can offer both fun and fitness.

Two Rivers Gallery offers a unique experience for children in Grades 1-7.

From March 13-17, children can participate in the Create with the Masters program, where they will learn about artists and their masterpiece. They will also have the opportunity to create their own works of art.

From March 20-24, the Colour Play program will bring children in Grades 1-7 together to imagine and experiment with colours as they draw, sculpt and paint.

Engage Sport North, formerly PacificSport, is offering XploreSportZ Camps where children, ages 6-12, can test their skills in a variety of sports.

Children will participate in about two different sporting activities a day.

Engage Sport North is a not-for-profit organization that continues to serve volunteers, coaches, athletes and officials in communities throughout northern B.C.

The Exploration Place will offer the Just Add Water camp where children in Grades K-2 can experiment with water science. They will learn about buoyancy and move water with static electricity while exploring the wonders of oceans, lakes and rivers, including the creatures that live within.

Children in Grades 3-7 can look forward to Build it, Break it. This camp will allow kids to be an engineer for a week full of designing, building and destroying.

Both camps will run from March 13-17.

From March 20-24, The Exploration Place will also offer Through the Looking Glass for children in Grades K-2 as they will be given a glimpse into the wonderful world of Wonderland complete with rabbit holes, Alice and the Cheshire Cat.

Intermediate students in Grade 3-7 can enjoy a Kitchen Science camp as they experiment with cooking and baking while making their own tasty creations.

And for those not wanting to just hang around at home, OVERhang Climbing Gym is offering two five-day camps during spring break.

Camp leaders will get kids slack lining, curling, crafting and, of course, climbing.

Camps will run from March 13-24.

The Prince George Aquatic Centre and the Four Seasons Leisure Pool will be offering swimming lessons from March 13-24.
