Katelyn Ryan, 18, spent four months volunteering at orphanages in Quito, Ecuador, and her eyes were opened to many things.
Ryan took her trip through the Orphanage Support Services Organization (OSSO). The 2009 Kelly Road graduate wanted to take a year off and travel, and when she looked on OSSO's website, it said they had a lack of volunteers due to the recession. "As soon as I saw that I said 'oh, I'm going.'"
