With the goal of raising $60,000 exceeded, the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation's Spirit Day held Thursday was a success.
The money raised in the amount of $62,096 will go towards the campaign to fund four ECHO ultrasounds with 4D capabilities for improved detection, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac-related illnesses.
"It is so rewarding to see our community and surrounding area support equipment that is so badly needed for the north," Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, said. "Any time we can fund state-of-the-art equipment that will allow enhanced services to patients in the north, it is a win-win for everyone."
Dr. Haidar Hadi, cardiologist and physician lead on this campaign, has been passionate in his requirements to tend to the needs of his patients since he arrived in Prince George more than eight years ago, said a recent news release.
"Physicians look at equipment and services available when they are choosing where they want to work," Hadi said. "Having this state-of-the-art equipment will help attract and retain specialists as well as serve to reduce patient wait lists which are currently up to six months."
The healthcare foundation thanks all the sponsors and volunteers who made Spirit Day so successful.
