Spike belt and Taser deployed in arrest

Prince George RCMP deployed a spike belt and a Taser in their apprehension of a man well-known to police and the courts.

Gordon Theodore Peltz, 45, remains in custody on counts of dangerous driving. fleeing police, resisting arrest and refusing to comply with a demand.

RCMP said he was arrested Friday afternoon after police located a black Honda Civic with stolen license plates.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over but turned down a dead-end street allowing RCMP to lay out a spike belt.

But despite the flat tires, the driver kept going and swerved around police vehicles stopped at the intersection of Domano Boulevard and Highway 16 East before turning into a commercial parking lot at the 5000-block of Domano.

"The vehicle became inoperable due to its condition. When stopped, the driver did not comply with police direction to exit the vehicle and was attempting to continue driving. A conducted energy weapon was deployed and the driver was arrested," said RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Peltz also continues to face counts of break and enter, motor vehicle theft and two counts of assault from an alleged August 2021 incident, a count of assault from an alleged July 2021 incident and counts of uttering threats and criminal harassment from an alleged October 2021 incident.
