Speeding vehicle prompts manhunt

Reports of at least one gunshot and a car speeding out of the Lombardy Mobile Home Park with its back window shattered triggered an RCMP search across the VLA Sunday evening.

Reports of at least one gunshot and a car speeding out of the Lombardy Mobile Home Park with its back window shattered triggered an RCMP search across the VLA Sunday evening.

"A car sped out of here like a bat out of hell," said a man who asked not to be identified. The incident took place around 6 p.m.

Another witness, who had just arrived home, said his mother heard at least one gunshot.

The car, identified by some accounts as a blue Pontiac Grand Am, was later found by police on Regents Crescent. RCMP cordoned off the area and conducted a manhunt.

A police dog team led them to a home on the same street. It is unclear if they apprehended anyone at the home.

However, RCMP took one female into custody about an hour after the incident began.

Police also cordoned off an area in the trailer park that included a mobile home.

An officer on the scene said RCMP attempted to make an arrest at the trailer park before the incident occurred.

Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass declined to comment. No further details were available as of press time.
