Special Olympics BC hosting Prince George inclusion fair

In Prince George, there are about 80 athletes already participating and anyone interested is welcome to join in the fun.

David Dunn, Adrian Rosen, Tegan Raines and Marinka VanHage are Special Olympic athletes who all returned from the BC Winter Games in Kamloops in February with many medals for their races of 200, 400m, 800m and 1600m. These are just some of the athletes who excel in Special Olympics BC sport in Prince George.

Special Olympics BC will showcase Prince George athletes, coaches and volunteers at an inclusion fair on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event at Art Knapp’s Plantland, 4411 Kimball Rd., west of the city, is hosted by members of the Special Olympics BC Prince George Athletes Input Council and will have interactive stations of many of the sports that are offered in Prince George.

Special Olympics BC is dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunities to enrich their lives and celebrate personal achievement through positive sport experiences.

They offer high-quality sports programs and cater to all ages and a wide range of abilities. Sports programs run throughout the year with daily training and local competition that can lead to the opportunity to participate in high-performance competitions.

In Prince George, there are about 80 athletes already participating and anyone interested is welcome to join in the fun.

Most recently the Special Olympics BC Prince George soccer team travelled to Whitehorse, Yukon recently to take part in the 2023 Yukon Invitational Soccer Tournament and placed third after a challenging match they won by shootout.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Inclusion Fair. There will be a barbecue and bake sale fundraiser on site.
