For those with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math, there is a free community event to be held at Immaculate Conception school, 3285 Cathedral Ave., Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Vancouver's H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, a non-profit community resource, will host the event featuring family-friendly crafts, space demonstrations and games as well as showcasing the inflatable planetarium where guests will be taken to the far reaches of the universe to see planets, constellations and other wonders of space that cannot be seen from Earth.
The Exploration Place staff will be there to help with science crafts and activities while the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Prince George Centre will have its collection of telescopes on hand for display and viewing.
"Continuing to fulfill our mandate of the advancement of science and astronomy to Prince George and the neighbouring northern communities, RASC Prince George Centre is very pleased to participate in this event," said Glen Harris, head of RASC Prince George Centre in a news release.
"This is a unique opportunity for Prince George Centre to accent its presence in the community."
The local event is part of a community investment program from Kitimat LNG, the release said.
The Space Centre provides the science-based education as well as teacher, student and family training through the events.
