Legal proceedings are held at the Prince George Courthouse at Third Avenue and George Street.

A Prince George man went on trial in BC Supreme Court on Tuesday, July 15, charged with sexually assaulting a client at the Razor’s Edge spa.

Crown prosecutor Anna Novakovic told Justice Dennis Hori that Amir Khoshtinat Markaz is accused of committing the crime on two occasions, May 7 and 14, 2024.

Hori banned from publication the name of the complainant and witnesses.

Novakovic said in her opening statement that she would call three witnesses. One will enter business records as evidence and confirm that the complainant was seen in the spa on the two days in question.

Novakovic said that witness “cannot testify as to what happened in that room, but provide some background information as to practices and procedures at the spa.”

The investigating officer, who arrested Markaz, and the alleged victim will also testify.

Markaz, represented by lawyer Tony Zipp, pleaded not guilty. The case could run up to nine days.
