You may want to be extra cautious with your belongings after a sudden spike in property-related crimes.
Mounties in Prince George say over the past two weeks, they have seen a large increase in property offences, mainly along the 15th Avenue corridor.
From Victoria Street to Foothills Boulevard, there have been more than 40 property-related crimes reported along, or close to, 15th Avenue.
Complaints include break and enters, thefts from vehicles, mischief as well as bike and motorcycle theft.
Other targeted areas include:
- Spruce Street, between 15th Avenue and 20th Avenue
- Vehicles around hotels in the downtown core (mainly hotel patrons)
- Sheds and garages throughout the city
A total of six motorcycles have been stolen in the past two weeks. Three of those were in the area of Fifth Avenue and Tabor Boulevard. Four of the six have not been recovered.
The descriptions of the bikes are:
- 2008 White Honda CBR 125R with Alberta licence plate LFL16
- 2007 Black Yamaha Moped with B.C. licence plate L32014
- 2015 Green and black Kawasaki KLR 600 with Alberta licence plate QY424
- 2016 Black Suzuki VR650 with B.C. licence plate Y36207
RCMP say many of these crimes could have been prevented if proper steps were taken to secure the property.
