Having missed last year’s walk because of the pandemic the Crisis Centre for
Soles Remembering Souls takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park to honour those lost to suicide and the survivors of that loss.
“At the Crisis Centre, we feel that people need to be remembered not only for how they died but for the life they have lived,” Sandra Boulianne, Crisis Centre executive director said in a recent news release.
“We will be placing placards of those who have died by suicide and are registered by their friends and family in the garden up from the Bandshell at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.”
The placards will have a picture of the loved one lost to suicide with year of birth and death on one side then on the other side there will be five things listed for which the registrant should be remembered.
The event will have live music and art, a silent auction and a reflective walk in the garden.
“Suicide is everyone’s loss and as a community, we want to show that we care about lives lost to suicide,” Boulianne said.
