A Prince George school is eager to make itself a shining example of green power.

On Friday, Highglen Montessori elementary saw 16 solar panels installed on its roof. The demonstration project is capable of producing enough power to run 140 laptops, 70 fluorescent lights, or 47 60-watt bulbs.

The project was made possible by two grants: $20,000 in funding from SolarBC and $4,000 from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. Spearheading the effort was David Leman of the Northern Climate Change Network.
