In late September, a social media thread was launched by a member of the public to locate a suspect in an aggravated assault that occurred in Prince George on Sept. 23.

As a result of that thread, RCMP received dozens of tips by phone, e-mail and through the BC RCMP Facebook page. On Oct. 1 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Aaron Raymond Munch was located and arrested in West Kelowna, despite attempting to flee and providing a false name. This arrest was a direct result of the tips received by police.

Charges of aggravated assault and theft under $5,000 have been approved against Munch for the Sept. 23 incident where a 24 year old female suffered severe injuries to her face. The victim was taken to hospital by the BC Ambulance Service, was treated and is recovering.

Munch, a 29 year old Prince George resident formerly of the Peace River Region, is currently in custody at the Prince George Regional Correction Centre and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Oct. 19.

The Prince George RCMP would like to thank the those members of the public that provided information.
