Snowfall warning issued for Prince George

Between 10 and 20 cm of snow is expected to fall on Prince George through tonight, Environment Canada said in a weather warning issued this morning.

Between 10 and 20 cm of snow is expected to fall on Prince George through tonight, Environment Canada said in a weather warning issued this morning.

"A slow transition from a cold Arctic airmass to a milder but moist Pacific airmass will take place over the BC interior today and Saturday as a major Pacific storm approaches the BC coast and slowly shifts inland," Environment Canada said.

"An initial impulse of moisture will move across the interior today resulting in a band of snow producing up to five cm except five to 10 cm for northern sections of the central interior.

"The main portion of the storm will arrive in the west later this afternoon and spread to eastern sections of the interior early this evening."

Area highways remain open but several warnings of snow and slippery sections are posted on the DriveBC website.
