"Direct escapes" to Puerto Vallarta have returned to Prince George Airport.

WestJet is once again operating a non-stop "snow to sand" flight to the Mexican tourist destination starting this Saturday with the flight leaving at 11:15 a.m.

The service is now in its sixth year and is the third season Westjet has been the host. Air Transat ran the service before that.

"We're very pleased that our non-stop seasonal service between Prince George and Puerto Vallarta remains so popular," said Westjet public relations manager Robert Palmer. "And we want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciate to the people of Prince George and the surrounding area for choosing to fly with us."

The service will be available every Saturday April 28 and fares start at $299 each way.

Flights are just over five hours each way.
