Wildfire smoke is creating a haze in the sky in Prince George.

Prince George and the Central Interior, stretching from the north coast east to the Alberta border, is covered under a smoky skies bulletin issued Sunday morning by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

The bulletin stretches from Quesnel and the north Cariboo up to Fort St. John in the south Peace.

Localized and intermittent pulses of smoke continue to impact many regions in the Southern Interior, North Coast and Central Interior, the bulletin said.

Widespread wildfire smoke continues to blanket much of the province, with no expected change until Monday, starting on Vancouver Island and on the Lower Mainland. Some of the smoke is remaining aloft, but many regions are being impacted on the ground.

Residents are encouraged to reduce their exposure to wildfire smoke. People with pre-existing health conditions, respiratory infections such as COVID-19, older adults, pregnant women and infants, children, and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from smoke exposure.
