Smoky haze all in the skies

What happens in Siberia doesn't stay in Siberia.

The Ministry of Environment issued a wildfire smoke advisory warning Monday afternoon due to the high concentration of fine particulates likely due to smoke from blazes burning in eastern Asia and Siberia, expected to last through Tuesday.

The smoke hovered over the central interior and northern BC for the past two days, casting hazy skies and prompting similar warnings in Smithers, Burns Lake, Houston, Williams Lake and Quesnel.

The air poses a moderate health risk and those with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Remaining indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce fine particulate exposure, according to the ministry.
