Two men from out of town kept Prince Rupert RCMP hopping last Wednesday in an early morning rash of smashed vehicle windows and thefts.

It started with an attempted theft at the Coast Hotel where of a window of a truck was smashed to gain entry and the steering column was damaged, but nothing was taken from the vehicle.

An hour later police responded to a report of theft of a Dodge pickup truck followed by the theft of an ATV at a different location where stolen items from the Dodge pickup were located

The Dodge pickup and the ATV were both recovered in Fraser Lake the same day and the two suspects are in custody.

"Vehicle theft is not common in Prince Rupert. One way to help protect your vehicle is to use anti-lock devices on your steering wheel and to make sure your vehicle alarms are working. Also, call in any suspicious activity in your community. Most criminals are caught by assistance from the public," said Cst. Erin Stevenson, crime prevention officer
