On Monday the His and Hers Hair Gallery on Ahbau Street was broken into.
RCMP said a Caucasian male smashed through the window into the business and stole a small amount of cash and a laptop computer.
The suspect, wearing a toque, white hoodie and blue jeans, fled south on Ahbau Street in a dark coloured, newer Volkswagen Beetle.
Police have attended several similar crimes in the last month. In most cases windows are smashed at small commercial businesses where it seems cash boxes and electronic equipment are being targeted.
RCMP Const. Craig Douglass says digital security cameras, alarm systems and retractable metal window covers will help prevent your business from being a target. In addition, all items of value should be secured in a safe or removed from the business if possible.
Douglass stressed the importance of recording the make, model and serial numbers of equipment which are safer if kept off the property during non-operating hours.
Business owners are encouraged to contact the RCMP Community Policing Section at 250- 561-3366 for a free security assessment.
Anyone with information about this break in or any other commercial break and enter is asked to call police at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
