Prince George RCMP say they have recovered a stolen skid steer tractor from a rural property just north Prince George and discovered 180 marijuana plants in the process.
The seizures were made Tuesday, when police converged on the property on Salmon Valley Road, about seven kilometres north of city limits just before 11:30 p.m.
"We were there looking for stolen property and the grow op was a bonus, I guess you could say,"Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said.
No one was on the property at the time.
The skid steer, now back with its owner, was reported stolen on March 21 from a home in the 12000 block of Eaglecrest Road, off North Kelly Road, also just outside city limits.
"Despite having the tractor in a locked garage, thieves were still able to steal the machine," Douglass said.
A skid-steer reported stolen Saturday morning from a business in the 1100 block of Pacific Street remains missing as is a snow-track quad taken from a home in the 1100 block of Kluss Road sometime between March 12 and 15.
Both appeared to have been targeted by thieves equipped with break-in and vehicle theft tools.
The missing skid steer is described as a yellow 2011 Cat 277C Multi terrain Loader with vehicle identification number JWF02456. The quad is a green 2009 500 cc Yamaha Grizzly with a black snow blade on it and tracks instead of wheels and vehicle identification number JY4AJ40W49C001854.
