An open house on the draft environmental impact statement guidelines for the proposed Site C dam will be held in Prince George on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Ramada.
The guidelines provide a detailed analysis of the potential environmental, economic, social, health and heritage effects of the proposed project.
BC Hydro is proposing to construct and operate a dam and 1,100-megawatt hydroelectric generating station on the Peace River near Fort St. John, 476 kilometres north of Prince George.
The proposed project would be the third in a series of dams on the Peace River and its components are: an earthfill dam 1,050 metres long and 60 metres high; an 1,100-megawatt generating station and associated structures; an 83-kilometre long reservoir; realignment of four sections of Highway 29; and two 77-kilometre transmission lines along an existing transmission line right-of-way connecting Site C to the Peace Canyon.
The federal and provincial environmental assessment agencies are hosting the open house and are accepting written comments until June 1.
