A new sign at the entrance to the Ancient Forest Provincial Park will be unveiled on Saturday.

With upgrades to the parking lot and entrance off the highway ongoing, parking at the site might be tight and has been reserved for dignitaries and those with accessibility issues.

However, there will be a shuttle service available from the Slim Creek rest area about a kilometre to the west, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The unveiling is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Also known as Chu T'oh Whudujut Provincial Park, it's located 120 kilometres east of the city. It covers 11,190-hectares and is home to an inland temperate rainforest made up of hemlock and western cedar trees as old as 1,000 years and with trunks up to 16 metres around.

The park will be closed during the work week of Oct. 3-7 as work at the parking lot and entrance continues.
