The fatal shooting that took place on the Old Cariboo Highway last month has turned up foul play, but not in relation to the woman who died.
The fatal wound to the 27-year-old female was, police confirmed on Thursday, self-inflicted. The investigation is concluded and no charges are pending for this incident.
However the process of investigation did reveal other evidence that is now part of a different set of allegations.
"While at the scene, investigators located stolen property," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.
"Prince George RCMP's Crime Reduction Team attended the scene and began an investigation into the stolen property. The scene was held and a search warrant obtained. Upon execution of the warrant, a number of items were seized including an enclosed trailer and a $40,000 piece of construction equipment used for laying conduit in the ground."
Police are now considering who might be responsible for the items being at the Old Cariboo Highway home.
"No charge package has been forwarded to Crown at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. The file definitely open," Douglass said.
