Public input will also be collected on a three-year temporary use permit to allow a shipping container to be placed in an empty lot in the VLA.
The container would be placed at 2307 Oak St. and used to store tools and yard maintenance equipment for the VLA Enhancement Association's tool share program.
According to the zoning bylaw, shipping containers are not allowed on residential properties unless they are enclosed in a building or other structure.
The tools stored in the 6.7 square metre container would be available to community members who "would not otherwise have access to such equipment to maintain and improve their properties," said the staff report to council.
The plan is for the container to sit at the rear of the property with access from the rear lane, be screened by existing trees and painted to blend in with natural surroundings.
Flammable or combustible liquids and fuel-powered equipment are not supposed to be stored in the container under the permit.
Public hearings begin at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
