A now-closed Prince George-based international student recruitment service has agreed to pay School District 57 nearly $270,000 in unpaid fees, according to a court record.
Lawyers for both parties have signed a consent order saying Shecana International Schools Ltd. will pay the school district $269,386.87 plus pre-judgment interest of $865.85.
The document was filed Monday in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver.
The school district filed a notice of claim in March saying Shecana was in arrears for the amount. In a response, Shecana said it had offered a way to repay the amount while also staying in business and the school district turned the proposal down. Shecana is now closed.
School board chair Tony Cable declined to elaborate Tuesday on how the money will be paid.
"This is a matter of ongoing litigation and it is premature to comment on any aspect of it at this time," Cable said.
Representatives of Shecana could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
