Sexual assault in LTM Park reported

Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a suspect following a report early Monday morning of a sexual assault in Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park.

Prince George RCMP are on the lookout for a suspect following a report early Monday morning of a sexual assault in Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park.

The suspect is described as a First Nations male, 183 cm (6'0") tall, with buzz cut hair and a beard and wearing many rings.

Police received a report at about 4 a.m. that a girl under age 18 was attacked by a lone male while walking through the park.

Investigators are asking anyone that may have seen something or someone unusual in the area of Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park around that time to call police at 250-561-3300.

RCMP also issued the following tips to help stay out of danger:

- Keep your head up, stay alert and be aware of your surroundings;

- Take note of people, businesses and other sources of assistance, should you need them;

- Avoid a person or situation that does not feel safe;

- Avoid using head phones preventing you from hearing your surroundings;

- Whenever possible, travel in groups of two or more;

- Walk along well-lit, well-traveled roads;

- Plan your route and avoid certain areas;

- Vary your route so that you don't become predictable;

- Avoid foot paths;

- Carry a whistle or noise maker;

- If approached or followed, call 9-1-1 immediately.
