Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm watch for the Prince George area.
The federal weather agency urged residents to take immediate cover if a storm approaches, warning of the risk of flying debris and damaging hail.
The watch was upgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning for about an hour Wednesday, June 18. That ended and the severe thunderstorm watch stayed in effect for several more hours.
oday will start off cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers early this morning, but skies are expected to clear later in the morning. Winds will shift to the south at 20 km/h near noon, and the daytime high is forecast to reach 17 C. The UV index is expected to be 6, or high.
Skies will be partly cloudy tonight with a low of 6 C.
Looking ahead to Friday, June 20, a mix of sun and cloud is forecast, with a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon and a risk of thunderstorms. Winds will become northerly at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 in the morning. The high is expected to be 21 C, with a UV index of 6.
Friday night will bring cloudy periods and a 30 per cent chance of showers. The low will dip to 9 C.
Saturday, June 21, will see a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 22 C. Cloudy periods are expected overnight, with a low of 7 C.
Sunday and Monday are both expected to feature a mix of sun and cloud, with highs of 21 C and 23 C, respectively. Overnight lows will be 9 C on Sunday and 10 C on Monday.
The trend continues into Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs of 23 C and 21 C, respectively, under partly sunny skies. Overnight lows will hover around 11 C.
